Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 Review (Playstation 4)

Written by JM Nuqui

Game Title: Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3
Genre: Fighting
Developer: Capcom, Eighting
Publisher: Capcom
Also Available On: PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows

Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 was first released wayback 2011 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox. 6 years later PS4 and Xbox One will have a sweet taste of one the most intense fighting games of all time. UMVC3 is a fighting game featuring a crossover between Marvel and Capcom characters.

If you remember the mechanics of the game 6 years ago then you are in luck because it's still the same UMVC3 that you've played way back. The only addition here is that the game now plays in 60 FPS plus all the DLC's included. Maybe Capcom wants HD tournaments for UMVC3 or even an introduction since UMVC4 is coming this year.

UMVC 3 has over 30 fighters to choose from. From Capcom's coolest to the weirdest. Phoenix Wright, Zero from Megaman X Series, Resident Evil characters Wesker and Chris and so much more for team Capcom. Then Iron man and the Avengers characters are just few present from Marvel's roster. Each has their own ability but there's a similar pattern like for each ultimate attacks or "Supers" and the UMVC3 attack system. UMVC3 uses 3 attack system unlike your typical fighting games which has a low, med, high punch and kicks, this game has low, medium and high attacks which could be a kick or punch, depending on the character, and a button to raise juggle the enemy upwards. The combat is a 3 vs 3 system and the player with most characters left wins.

Usual options for fighting games available, including an arcade mode, VS mode, training and a mission mode which lets you do specific combos. And lastly, if you have good internet, there's an online mode to test your skills and battle people around the globe. A bit stingy if you have slow internet connection as there would be lag on the characters movement.

Overall, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 is still a great game specially for those who loves fighting games. You'd be seeing smoother tournaments this time around. :)

Pros:
  • Tons of Capcom and Marvel Characters
  • 60 fps frame rate
  • Beautiful graphics

Cons:
  • Not much additions.

Score: 4/5
