Superdimension Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls Review (Playstation Vita)

Written by JM Nuqui

Game Title: Superdimension Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls
Genre: RPG
Developer: Idea Factory / Compile Heart / Felistella
Publisher: Idea Factory International

Superdimension Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls is a spinoff of Neptunia Series with IF a known side kick of Nepnep as the protagonist. On this game IF helps the SEGA Hardware girls to uncover what's distorting the past. If you've played the and a fan of hyperdimension series, you will be familiar with everything. The game is now out and released for Playstation VITA.

I loved the first Hyperdimension Neptunia for PSVITA. It's funny and action packed. Though I hate talking heads during cut scene's, I moved on and understand that this is how budget game works. But hey, it's still fun and funny and the gameplay works. They took that formula from Hyperdimension Series and Injected it to the Superdimension spin off.

But, not all praises if the game fails to evolve for it's the 4th RPG for the Neptunia series. This is the 4th RPG game for the Neptunia series. It's not even related to REBIRTH but why is everything recycled?? I saw monsters from Rebirth 1. Not even a new sprite added to that monster. We kept on going back and forth dungeons and getting "QUESTS" from Histoire for every scenario that will happen? Its repetitive really. Repetitive resources and process.

Battle is great as always but a bit buggy at times as enemies tend to attack first even if you’re the one who attacked them before battle which should give you the upper hand. A bit stiff controls when walking around.

The game is pretty text heavy. It's like a visual novel. The art is nice and crisp. But there's a lot of humor than serious moments for you to be able to concentrate on the story. There's just too much comedy and none sense.

One of my biggest gripe is that, yes there are save points. But for a game like this an autosave feature because of the game RANDOM difficulty. You are left unprepared for some bosses because you wouldn't know that a boss fight will occur. I got wiped out many times in the game with save points lasting 3 hours. You will definitely forget to save your game because of tons of text going around. The game is not linear and lets you pick a quest on your own without telling what the hell's goin to happen there and you wouldn’t even know which one to go and do first. It's more of experimenting doing whatever you want.

There are tons of characters popping up which makes things confusing. Lots of information that is not really related to the story and you wouldn't even care.

Overall, I'd stay away from this game. I'd probably recommend and slip some of the bugs and the story but after seeing a lot of recycled stuff as in 90% recycled stuff. Sega is asking way too much for $39.99. Wait for the game to go on sale if you’re a mega Nep Nep fan.

Pros:
  • Beautiful Graphics
Cons:
  • Random Difficulty
  • No Autosave
  • 90% sprites reused
  • Expensive for $39

Score: 2.5/5
