Heroes of Loot Review (PlayStation Vita)

"Reigning over a dungeon is more fun than you think."

Game Title: Heroes of Loot
Genre: Action Game
Developer: Orangepixel
Heroes of Loot

Heroes of Loot is a chaotic combination of rouge-like dungeon crawling, shoot-em-up, and frantic plundering on what seems to be a treasure trove of a cave, that will literally make you loose track of time. With it's crazy and comedic plot, this is a game that all ages will enjoy.

Heroes of Loot is an indie game and is a port of a game of the same name from the mobile, PC, and Mac devices. It was developed by Orangepixel, the individual who developed Gunslugs, and was published by Abstraction Games B.V. for the PlayStation Vita. The port is by no means supervised by Orangepixel, it was single-handedly ported by Abstraction Games B.V. but even so the port turned out to be awesome.

The game is featured in a top-down 2D layout with randomly generated dungeons to boot. The controls are pretty straightforward and I trust that anyone can handle their way through it. You are then presented with four characters, each having their weapon of choice to "throw" (Yes T.H.R.O.W!) at and annihilate all enemies, and with them carrying the main objective and that is to: Go to the 30th floor without dying, simple right? Each dungeon level is randomly generated and it contains; shops, random loots to plunder, power-ups, and let's not forget the monsters of varying sizes that is out for your blood.

Visuals are presented in a high-quality dot-pixel style that closely resembles it's PC and Mac versions. I would like to point out something about it's soundtrack, and that it lacks the proper sync with the game, with such chaos happening on the screen a more pumped-up audio should be used to match the play style.

Verdict:
Heroes of Loot is a great indie game that is enjoyable and immersive to play. With it's plot filled with comedy, fast-paced play style, characters whom are pretty clueless at what they're doing, and it can get redundant at times, it's high-time that everyone should play this game.
